A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) ‘zonal commander’, identified as Jeevan Kandulna, carrying a cash reward of INR 1 million on his head, surrendered before Police in Ranchi District of Jharkhand on February 28, reports The Pioneer. Kandulna, a resident of Rania block (administrative unit) of Khunti District was active in the Saranda forests of West Singhbhum District. He was accused in cases of murder, loot, rape, levy collection, and involvement in Maoist activities lodged with different Police Stations across Jharkhand. More than 4,000 operations were conducted to arrest Kandulna in the past 20 years, but he always managed to escape.
