A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Saybo alias Ranu, carrying a cash reward of INR 800,000 on his head was killed in an exchange of fire with Security Forces (SFs) in a forested area between Kutru and Ketulnar under Kutur Police Station limits in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on January 16, reports The Pioneer. A joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Police launched a combing operation in the said area. On seeing the SFs, Maoists opened fire resulting in a gun-battle in which the Maoist was killed. Ranu was a ‘commander’ of the Maoists’ Farsegarh Action Squad and ‘Deputy Commander’ of Farsegarh LOS (Local Operating Squad). Pistol rounds, arrow bombs and daily use items were recovered from the spot.
