A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre was killed during an exchange fire with C-60 Police Commandos in Yeldami forest under Hedri Police Station limits in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra on July 3, reports Outlook. As per the report, personnel from C-60 Commandos, a specialised combat unit of the District Police, were on an operation in the said area when an exchange of fire took place with the Maoists. An official said, “after the encounter, we found the body of one Maoist as well as a weapon. The operation has been intensified inside the forest.” The identity of the slain Maoist is yet to be ascertained.
