A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Rajesh Oraon, who had a bounty of INR 200,000, was killed in an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) in Gumla District of Jharkhand on June 1, reports The Print. Acting on a tip-off, the forces began an operation to arrest Rajesh Oraon from near Marwa Forest, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ehtesham Waquarib said, adding that as the force reached there, Maoists started firing. In retaliatory firing, Oraon was killed on the spot. A rifle and several cartridges were recovered from the area, he added.
Four more Improvised Explosives Devices (IED), including one weighing around 50 kilograms, suspected to have been planted by the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), were found in the forest near Tumbahaka village under the Tonto Police Station limits in West Singhbhum District of Jharkhand on June 1, reports The Print. The IEDs were defused on the spot by the SFs.
