An unidentified Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) sympathiser was arrested along with medical kits from Dummugudem Mandal (Administrative Sub-unit) in Bhadradri Kothagudem District of Telangana on July 31, reports The Hans India. Circle Inspector Venkateshwar said, the Police were conducting a vehicle check between the villages of Parnasala and Seethanagaram under the Dummagudem Mandal when a suspicious 28-year-old man carrying two boxes was spotted. Noticing the Police, he tried to escape but was arrested and medical kits and tablets in two boxes were seized from his possession.
Meanwhile, the Intelligence wing of Telangana Police is in the process of raising a bird squad to thwart Maoist drones, which the rebels could use to keep tabs on movements of Chief Minister (CM) K. Chandrasekhar Rao or VVIPs in the State, reports The Times of India on August 1. As per the report, the Intelligence wing is planning to engage experts to train the birds, which will be pressed into aerial security services during the VVIP movement. This bird squad, which will be part of VVIP security, is likely to be called ‘Garuda Squad’. The birds will be trained at the Integrated Intelligence Training Academy (IITA), Moinabad.
