The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres killed a civilian, identified as Munshi Tado (28) after accusing him of being a ‘Police informer’ at Bhamragad Village in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra on July 10, reports Outlook. A Police official said, “Tado was a former Maoist. He was taken away from an agricultural field at the said village on July 10 evening and killed. Maoists left pamphlets near Tado’s body claiming he was a Police informer.”
Meanwhile, a sizeable number of people from Bhatpar hamlet of Bhamragarh taluka (revenue sub-division) in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra staged a rally protesting against the killing of ex-Maoist Munshi Tado in the District, reports The Times of India on July 13. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Shailesh Balkawade said, “It was just a brutal murder of an ex-Maoist by those in the Dalam (armed squad of CPI-Maoist). The villagers were probably shocked after Tado was murdered without any intimation or discussion. The Maoist generally inform the villagers through mock trial at Kangaroo courts which they run in their own random manner especially if someone were to be targeted. In this case, the villagers were kept in the dark about their motive.”
