Despite the strict vigilance by the Security Forces, the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres observed its Martyrs Week (July 28 – August 3) at an undisclosed area of Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB) region and paid tributes to their martyrs on July 30, reports The Times of India. The Maoists, who are on the run, reportedly observed Martyrs Week in a grand way at a pylon of their martyrs close to the Andhra Pradesh borders. They conducted a meeting with the people of around 15 villages in the cut-off area of Malkangiri District of Odisha in which their top leader and AOB Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) secretary Gajarla Ravi alias Uday alias Ganesh addressed the gathering.
The Maoist leader alleged that the newly constructed bridge on the river Seeleru at Janbhai area in Malkangiri District is nothing but for the easy access to the villages in the cut-off area than to provide transport facility to the public. He accused that the SFs have been arresting the innocent people in the tribal areas and clamping false cases against the tribals. He further alleged that both Central and State governments are trying to loot the natural resources in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha by creating terror in the tribal and forested areas in the name of combing operations.
