The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres shot dead a former Special Police Officer (SPO), identified as Jivte Ramteke (45), after branding him as ‘police informer’ at Kohoka-Mokasa village under Kotgul Police Station limits in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra on April 8, reports The Times of India. As per the report, the Maoists had earlier, erected a banner mentioning Jivte’s name and warning him of dire consequences for making money by becoming a ‘police informer’. The Maoists reached his village and dragged him out of his house and shot him dead.
In a separate incident, the Maoists set ablaze a couple of tractors, mixer machines and some equipment at an under-construction bridge between Lingapalli and Kistapur near Dechlipetha village in Aheri Taluka(revenue sub-division)in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra on April 7, reports The Times of India. The Maoists left a pamphlet and banner near the spot warning the contractor against continuing the work.
