On December 5, the Prosecutor General's (PG) Office has indicted Mohamed Ameen with terrorism charges and forwarded the case to the Criminal Court, reports Edition. Following amendments to the Anti-Terrorism Act, PG office charges on Ameen for joining a terrorist organization and attempting to carry out an act of terrorism is the first instance of such charges. On December 1, Police had submitted the case against Ameen including his involvement in the bombing that took place near the historic Sultan Park in capital Male' City in 2007 to the Prosecutor General's Office following his arrest. Ameen was the first Maldivian to be included in the list of terrorists publicised by the United States' Department of the Treasuries Office of Foreign Affairs Control (OFAC).
