Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen in a press conference on October 15 stated that Bangladesh has handed over a fresh list of the names of 50,000 Rohingyas for verification to Myanmar, reports Daily Star. He further stated that till date Bangladesh has handed over the names of over one lakh Rohingyas to Myanmar. On January 16, 2018, Bangladesh and Myanmar signed a document on “Physical Arrangement” to facilitate the return of Rohingyas to their homeland in the stipulated timeline of two years. However, two attempts of repatriation of Rogingyas failed due to Myanmar’s lack of confidence building measures. Momen had met his Chinese and Myanmar counterparts in New York on September 23 to discuss the repatriation of Rohingyas.
