On May 26, National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Isak-Muivah (NSCN-IM) in its editorial of the monthly news bulletin ‘Nagalim Voice’ stated that ‘It is unthinkable for NSCN to accept Naga national flag as cultural flag as hinted by Government of India’, reports Nagaland Post. The statement comes against the backdrop of reports emanating from Nagaland that the Government of India (GoI) was not averse to allow the Naga national flag for cultural purposes and also incorporate a mutually acceptable part of the Naga constitution in the Constitution of India. NSCN-IM further stated that the outfit is closely watching how the Prime Minister (PM) of India is going to handle Framework Agreement with NSCN and Naga people that he himself took so much pride and credit at the signing of it on August 3, 2015. The report regarding Naga flag and constitution is an ‘unfortunate development’ and tantamount to political blackmail that NSCN-IM would not succumb to.
