Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal on January 11 urged cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist-Chand) to join the ruling NCP without any delay, reports Republica. Dahal made the remarks while welcoming Mohan Karki to his party. Karki, a key leader of the underground CPN-Maoist-Chand had recently quit his party. "I urge members of Chand-led party members not to delay to join our party. The communist parties should join hands together to successfully achieve socialism in the country," Dahal said.
Meanwhile, senior Police officials said faced with massive Police crackdown that has left the party’s organizational structure in shambles in recent months, the outlawed CPN-Maoist-Chand has devised a new strategy to ‘accumulate strength’, while making its presence felt through explosions time and again, reports Republica on January 12. Senior Police officials have concluded that the Chand-led outlawed Maoist group has devised this new strategy as nearly 1,300 party senior leaders including 260 central level leaders have been arrested so far after the government banned their activities in early March 2019.
