On July 23, National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) ‘chief’ M Batha in a statement refuted official stance of his surrender and stated that he and the other 22 militants only came for ‘peace talks’, reports East Mojo. A day after the much-hyped surrender of NLFB ‘chief’ and his associates, Batha asserted that the reports of his surrender are incorrect as he only came for peace talks. He said that the outfit is on ceasefire and ‘200 more militants are yet to come into the mainstream’. During his meeting with Assam Chief Minister (CM), Himanta Biswa Sarma, NLFB ‘chief’ demanded the release of our jailed leaders and the implementation of BTR. South Asia Terrorism Portal (SATP) reported that on July 22, National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB)‘chief’ M Batha alias Binod Mushahary along with his 22 associates surrendered with sophisticated arms and ammunition at Lalpool Police outpost in Udalguri District of Assam.
