One cadre of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) was killed and 14 Security Force (SF) personnel were injured in an encounter between the SFs and Maoists near Korajguda hills between Kasalpad and Minpa village in the Chintagufa area in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on March 21, reports All India Radio. A joint team of SFs was on a search operation in Chintagufa area, when Maoists ambushed the security personnel between Kasalpad and Minpa village. SFs retaliated the fire in which the 14 SF personnel were injured. Police claimed that many Maoist were killed in this encounter, however, a body of one killed Maoist had been recovered, whose identity is yet to be ascertained. Further, Director General of Police (DGP), D M Awasthi, said, “There were multiple encounters after 1pm, which took place in that area till evening. After the force came back, we found that 13 jawans (troopers) of state police were missing and 14 were injured,” adds NDTV. The DGP further said that the encounter took place with battalion number one of CPI-Maoist, which is led by Mandavi Hidma.
