PAFFREL, a civil society organisation, who has been engaged in observation and monitoring of election-related activities in Sri Lanka, has written to Facebook to take measures to control and mitigate Facebook-related campaigning during the 48 hours (cooling period) prior to the Presidential Election, reports Daily News on November 13. PAFFREL has stated that according to the election laws in Sri Lanka, at midnight of November 13, all political propaganda activities must cease 48 hours (cooling period) prior to the Presidential election and hence urge Facebook to control and mitigate Facebook-related campaigning.
