Punjab Police is fortifying villages near the International Border (IB) to counter the drone threat from Pakistani agencies in an initiative, called Drone Emergency Response System (DERS), reports The Tribune on June 2. The initiative involves strengthening Village Defence Committees (VDC) in 108 villages with ex-servicemen, Policemen, and government officials. When a drone is spotted, the Police will inform the VDC, which will seal exit points and notify the Police control room, Border Security Force (BSF), and respective authorities for further action.
