A Policeman was killed by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres at a weekly market in Mirtur village in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on June 23, reports The Hindu. The incident took place around 2 pm when assistant constable Chaitu Kadti had gone to the market in Mirtur village with his family, Police said. A ‘small action team’ of Naxals (typically comprising four to five cadres) suddenly stabbed Kadti with knives, killing him on the spot, and fled. The rebels did not harm the family members of Kadti, who was posted at Mirtur Police Station, the Police added.
