President Bidya Devi Bhandari on September 27 scrapped the ordinance introduced to bring some amendments in the Political Party Act at the recommendation of the Government, reports Republica. Sher Bahadur Deuba-led cabinet had earlier recommended President Bhandari to issue ordinance to bring amendment in the Political Parties Act. The amended provision paved the way for a leader of any political party to split the party if she or he is able to garner support of either 20 percent central working committee members or the parliamentary committee members.
