At least seven persons were injured after unidentified persons hurled a cracker bomb at a stall in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area of Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, on August 11, reports Samaa TV. The cracker attack was carried out at a stall selling national flags and badges in the area, according to the Police. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
Separately, the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) claimed the responsibility of twin grenade attacks on the Pakistan Rangers’ headquarters in Shikarpur city (Shikarpur District) and Jacobabad city (Jacobabad District) on August 10, reports The Balochistan Post. In a media statement, Sodho Sindhi, the SRA ‘spokesperson’ said that 14 August – the Independence Day for Pakistanis – is the day of “national slavery for the Sindhi nation, the day on which Punjabi imperialist occupied our land on the basis of state coercion.” The spokesperson further said that the Sindhi nation will never accept the “Pakistani (Punjabi) occupation on our motherland.” The statement reminded the Sindhi nation of its much-repeated caveat, saying that SRA forbids the Sindhi nation of participating in the flag marches and rallies organized by pro-Pakistani factions on 14 August. The spokesperson paid tribute to “Shaheed Bashir Khan Qureshi” and concluded that the SRA “vows to continue its resistant struggle till the complete freedom of Sindhudesh.”
Further, SRA claimed the responsibility of the grenade attack on a Punjabi settler’s warehouse in the Mirpur Shahi Bazar of Ghotki District on August 8 in which four persons were injured, reports The Balochistan Post.
Meanwhile, one Sindhi social activist writer, Sindhi language researcher and former research associate at Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science and Technology (SZABIST), Sarang Joyo, was allegedly abducted by SFs in the night of August 10 from his residence in Karachi, reports The Balochistan Post. Sarang Joyo is a known activist and son of a renowned Sindhi writer, Taj Joyo. According to the statement issued by the Voice of Missing Persons of Sindh (VMPS); Pakistani forces have intensified atrocities in Sindh. “Sarang Joyo was a strong voice of the Sindhi Missing Persons and the political activist for Sindh. He was continuing his peaceful struggle for all political and social issues of Sindh from the platform of Sindh Sujagi Forum,” statement further read.
Earlier, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz - Ariser (JSQM- A) leader Sabir Chandio, once again arrested on August 9 allegedly by Pakistani forces from Makhdoom Bilawal village of Sachal Goth neighbourhood of Gulshan Town in Karachi and shifted to an unknown location, reports The Balochistan Post. No news of JSQM leader has been received since his arrest. Sabir Chandio was forcibly disappeared from Kakkar Bypass Road near Dadu with his cousin Ibrahim Chandio on April 25, 2017, three years ago, when he was on his way to participate in the death anniversary event of a late Sindhi nationalist leader, GM Syed. A month later, his cousin Ibrahim Chandio was released but Sabir Chandio remained missing for three consecutive years. According to VMPS, Sabir Chandio was later produced in ATC Court Larkana in 2019. He has been facing ATC cases for the last two years, not a single case of which has been proved against him in the court and finally in the same year the court acquitted him of all charges.
