The US-based banned pro-Khalistan outfit, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) has announced a reward of USD 125,000 for anyone who would raise or wave the Khalistan flag at the Red Fort on the 74th Independence Day celebrations on August 15 this year, reports The Week on August 11. Issuing an official statement in this regard, SFJ’s ‘legal adviser’, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun claimed that August 15, was not Independence Day for Sikhs as it reminded them of atrocities, they faced during the partition in 1947. “Nothing changed for us, but the rulers. We are still labelled as Hindus in the Indian Constitution and natural resources of Punjab were being unjustly appropriated for other states. We need true independence,” Pannun said. Following the announcement, the national security agencies and Delhi Police have been put on alert.
