Security Forces (SFs) arrested three persons in two separate incidents in Ferozepur and Sangrur Districts of Punjab on July 6, reports The Tribune. In the first incident, personnel of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and 29th Battalion of Border Security Force (BSF) in a joint operation recovered 7.14 kilogramsheroin worth INR 350 million near Border Out-Post (BOP) Dona Telu Mall in Ferozepur sector of Ferozepur District. A pistol, two magazines, 10 live rounds and two Pakistani SIM cards were also seized. The SFs have filed a case against a person identified as Bittu, a resident of Palla Begha village in this connection.
In the second incident, the anti-narcotic cell arrested three persons and recovered 1.4 kilogramsof heroin from them at Joliyan village in Sangrur District. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Garg said, “Our team arrested Amrik Singh, his wife Harpal Kaur, and Sarbjit Singh from the said village and confiscated 1.4 kilogramsheroin from their possession. The market value of the seized contraband is in crores. Further investigations are underway.”
