Police arrested six Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres in two separate search operations from various Police Stations limits in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh, reports NaiDunia on May 12. In the first incident, Security Forces (SFs) which included Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and District Police arrested two CPI-Maoist cadres identified as VetiHanda and Veti Deva from forests of Bodagubali under Errabore Police Station limits in Sukma District. The arrested were involved in arson activities in Errabore and are residents of Bodagubali. In the second incident, Police forces from Bheji Police Station in Sukma District and other SFs arrested four CPI-Maoist cadres identified as MuchakiBaman, SunnamLachcha, MadkamKosa and MadviBamun were arrested. All these were involved in the murder of two assistant guards, said Konta Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Sachindra Choubey.
Separately, CPI-Maoist couple identified as Arjun Tatti and his wife Laxmi Padda, who are infected by coronavirus infection have surrendered before the SFs in Kanker District of Chhattigarh, reports NDTV on May 13. The CPI-Maoist couple who were active in the Medki Local Organisation Squad (LOS) contacted security personnel at Kamdeta Border Security Force (BSF) camp on May 12, saying they were ill and need help. Both of them were admitted to a COVID-19 hospital in Kanker for treatment and the process of their formal surrender will take place once they recover. Police are getting reliable inputs about the death of more than ten CPI-Maoist cadres in the southern part of Sukma and Bijapur Districts. Many others are reported to be seriously ill, said Bastar Inspector General of Police (IG), Sundarraj P. CPI-Maoist cadres performed last rites of ten cadres who reportedly died of COVID-19 or food poisoning on the border between Sukma and Bijapur Districts of Chhattisgarh, added Dantewada Superintendent of Police(SP), Abhishek Pallava.
