Six Naxals [Left Wing Extremists, LWEs] were arrested and arms and ammunition were recovered in three separate incidents in Jharkhand on August 9, reports Outlook. In one incident, acting on a tip-off, Police personnel arrested a ‘zonal commander’ of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Chhotu Manji alias Sahdeo alias Nishikant, carrying a cash reward of INR 100,000 on his head, from Jageshwar Vihar under Tuti-Jharna Police Station limits in Bokaro District.
Based on his revelations during interrogation, in another incident, the Security Forces (SFs) launched search operations in Masalia and Shikaripara Police Station areas in Dumka District and recovered one Self- loading Rifle (SLR), three INSAS rifles, one carbine, 357 cartridges and 1,675 detonators.
In the third incident, five Naxals belonging to Jharkhand Prastuti Committee (JPC) were arrested from Barkagaon Police Station limits in Hazaribag District. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Karthik S. said, acting on a tip-off, SFs arrested JPC’s self-styled ‘zonal commander’, Purushottam Ganjhu alias Basant Ganjhu and four of his associates from their hideout in the said area. Five firearms including .762 mm and .765 mm pistols and 23 cartridges were recovered.
