Sri Lanka highlighting the salient points of the progress made in protection of human rights of the people on September 11 requested the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to accord due recognition to the achievements made by the country amidst numerous challenges, reports Colombo Page. In a statement delivered to the 42nd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, the Deputy Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the UN in Geneva Dayani Mendis highlighted the measures taken by the Government of Sri Lanka within a short time span of only four years towards reconciliation, development and protection and promotion of human rights.
