About 2.5 million people who have been left out of National Register of Citizens (NRC)have sent a petition to Government of India (GoI) for re-verification, reports Nagaland Post on July 20. According to Union Ministry of Home Affairs (UMHA), many genuine names have been left out and many bogus names are registered. In the draft lists published in July 2018 and June this year, around 4.1 million people have been excluded. Around 3.6 million had filed claims against their exclusion and objections have been filed against two lakh inclusions.
