Two militants of National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) were arrested from Panisagar Railway Station in North Tripura District on January 2, reports Assam Tribune. Based on the information provided by the two arrested militants, the Police raided the Dharmanagar Railway Station in North Tripura District and arrested another NLFT militant.
According to Police, on December 18, NLFT had served a “threat notice” to Tripura Lok Sabha (Lower House of Indian Parliament) member Rebati Mohan Tripura for voting in favour of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), adds Assam Tribune. The threat notice was issued by NLFT ‘secretary general’ D Uomthai. The NLFT was founded on March 12, 1989 with Dhananjoy Reang as its ‘chairman’. It was banned in 1997 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and later under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
