Two militants were killed by the Security Forces (SFs) in an encounter in the Bijbehara area in Anantnag District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on April 11, reports Daily Excelsior. Stating that the two terrorists (militants) killed in the encounter were responsible for the killing of an Army jawan (trooper) on Saturday [April 10], Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, Vijay Kumar, said, “Terrorists responsible for the killing of Army jawan neutralised within two days in Bijbehara encounter.” In a statement, Dilbag Singh, Director General of Police (DGP), said, “Both the hardcore local terrorists have been neutralised. They were responsible for yesterday’s killing of a TA [Territorial Army] jawan. Have been active for a long and wanted in many cases of terror crime.” He added that with these 12 terrorists have been killed in four separate operations over the last 72 hours in the valley, leading to the full elimination of a terror outfit called Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). “A total of12 terrorists have been neutralised, comprising 7 terrorists at Tral and Shopian, 3 terrorists of Al Badr at Hatipora, Shopian and now these 2 at Bijbehara who were working with The Resistance Front (TRF),” the DGP added.
A civilian was killed when militants opened fire at him in Magam town in Budgam District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on April 11, reports Daily Excelsior. The civilian is identified as Nasir Ahmad Khan (35), a resident of Buchipora Magam, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. As per sources, the victim was working as a Special Police Officer (SPO) with the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), but resigned later. The reason for targeting the man is not yet known. The area has been cordoned off. The Police have started an operation to arrest the assailants.
Police defused five old mines detected near a house in Samba District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in India on April 11, reports Daily Excelsior. Officials said, five rusted anti-personnel mines were found when the area was being dug up near the residence of one Darshan Lal in the border hamlet of Dera. Information of the recovery of the mines was passed to local Police, which sent a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and defused them safely, they said.
