Chhattisgarh Police arrested three Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) ‘militia’ (people’s army of the Maoists) members of the Kachchapal unit of the CPI-Maoist on July 6 (Today), reports Latestly.com. The arrested Maoists were involved in the Jiwlapadar Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast that had happened on March 29. Chhattisgarh Police recovered an IED & 12 detonators from the possession of the arrested Maoists, said, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Naxal Operation, P Sharma.
Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Police had arrested nine cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) during explosive supply near the Bastanar-Kakloor check post in Bastar District of Chhattisgarh on July 2, reports The Pioneer. The arrested explosive suppliers were identified as Kosa alias Kosa Kawasi, Rameshwar Pujari, Anant Ram Jaiswal, Bal Singh Tamu and Bablu Ram Kuhrami of Bijapur, Maniram and Ujor Bedta of Bastar and Krishna Prasad Sao from West Bengal. Kawasi is a ‘militia’ (people’s army of the Maoists) member, while Pujari is a courier for Maoists and Jaiswal, Tamu, Markam, Kuhrami and Maniram were involved in Maoist activities for a long time. In addition to that Bedta and Sao were explosives suppliers. Police recovered nine booster explosives, cordex wires, 13 detonators, safety fuse and 31 detonators from their possession, said Bastar, Superintendent of Police (SP), Jitendra Singh Meena.
Meanwhile, a woman Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Mangali Ursa (33) of the Platoon No 12 under the Gangaloor Area Committee of the CPI-Maoist, carrying a reward of INR 200,000 on her head surrendered to the Police in Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh on July 2, reports The Pioneer. The disappointment with the ‘hollow’ Maoist ideology is the cause of her surrender, said Bijapur, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Pankaj Shukla.
