Two militants of All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) were arrested from Sepon area underKhowang Tehsil (revenue unit) Dibrugarh District of Assam on January 20, reports East Mojo. The arrestees were identified as Romen Urang and Deepak Borah. Two pistols, two magazines, 13 rounds of live ammunition, two pairs of combat uniforms, two green belts, three extortion notes and a mobile phone were recovered from the arrestees.
Separately, protesters against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), waved black flags at Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on January 21 in Bokakhat near Numaligarh in Golaghat District of Assam, reports The Sentinel. The protesters belonged to All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP). A total of 31 AASU activists and more than 10 AJYCP activists were arrested immediately by Police in connection with the incident
