Two civilians, identified as Mondipalli Ajay Kumar and Mondipalli Mohan Rao, were killed in a landmine explosion plantedby the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres near Chintalaveedhi in Jamiguda Gram Panchayat (village level local self-Government institution) of Pedabayalu Mandal (administrative sub-division), located in the interior part of the Andhra-Odisha Border (AOB) region in Visakhapatnam District of Andhra Pradesh on August 3, reports The New Indian Express. According to the Police, the two tribal youth had gone into the forest in search of some cattle which were missing from the herd after grazing. The Pedabayalu Sub-Inspector (SI) Raja Rao said, “They accidentally stepped on a mine planted under the soil on the thoroughfare. It exploded, killing both of them on the spot. We suspect it to be a pressure mine, rather than remote-controlled sensor mine, as the Maoists use the latter only on seeing the combing Police Forces”.
