Police arrested two cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist-Chand) from Damauli bazaar area in Tanahun District of Province No. 4 on July 23, reports The Himalayan Times. Police identified the arrestees as Netra Prasad Thapa (36) and Bishnu Kumar Shrestha (30). They were arrested while distributing political manifestos, pamphlets and other documents in Damauli bazaar area.
Meanwhile, Minister of Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa on July 23 said the CPN-Maoist-Chand was a major threat to peace and security in the country and would be brought to the political mainstream soon, reports The Himalayan Times. “Though the government is largely successful in maintaining law and order in the country, complete peace will not be possible unless the Chand-led group is brought to the political mainstream like the CK Raut group,” he said.
