Two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres surrendered before Police in separate incidents in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh. In one incident, a Maoist identified as Guddi Karma (23), carrying a cash reward of INR 100,000 on his head surrendered in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh on August 3, reports The Pioneer. The Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Pallava said, Karma was a ‘jan militia commander’ working under the Malangir Area Committee (MAC) of CPI-Maoist. He was attracted by the ‘Lon Varratu’ (homecoming), the surrender scheme of Dantewada Police. “He was involved in the killing of at least four villagers after orchestrating a ‘Jan Adalat’ (People’s/Kangaroo Court organized by the Maoists). He was also part of a Maoist team that had attacked several Police parties and blazed several construction vehicles,” the SP said.
In another incident, a Maoist ‘platoon commander’, identified as Malla, carrying a cash reward of INR 800,000 on his head surrendered in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh on August 3, reports The Times of India. As per the report, Malla surrendered himself after his sister pursued him to quit the CPI-Maoist and return home. The SP Abhishek Pallava said that Malla is entitled to benefits of ‘Lon Varratu’ scheme.
