A 30-year-old woman ‘deputy commander’ of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) party, Kovvasi Pojje, active in South Bastar, surrendered before Police in Alluri Sitarama Raju District of Andhra Pradesh on December 3, reports The Hindu. Native of Sukma District in Chhattisgarh, Pojje belongs to Gutti Koya tribe and joined the Maoists when she was 13 years old. She allegedly participated in an exchange of fire, in which 22 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed, at Jeeramguda in Sukma District in April, 2021. She carries an INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifle. In a press release, Alluri Sitarama Raju Superintendent of Police (SP), S. Sateesh Kumar claimed Pojje was vexed with the Maoist ideology and attracted towards Parivarthana programme of the Andhra Pradesh Police.
Also, Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) Dalam (armed squad) Member, identified as Madivi Sanker (25), surrendered before the Police in Chintoor in Alluri Sitarama Raju District of Andhra Pradesh on December 3, reports The Hindu.
