A United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) militant who is close to ‘chairman’ Abhijit Asom was arrested from Panjabari in Guwahati (Kamrup Metropolitan District) on January 1, reports Northeast Now. The arrestee was identified as Bitopan Sonowal who had entered Guwahati on December 29.
Separately on January 1, a National Democratic Front of Bodoland-SSaoraigwra (NDFB-S) militant was arrested from Chirang District, reports The Sentinel. The arrestee was identified as Laben Muchahary alias Lwithama. The arrestee was in possession of Indian and Bhutan currencies.
