Two leaders of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Rafi Ahmad Mir and Abdul Majeed Paddar were released on January 2, from house arrest after around five months, reports Daily Excelsior. Two more leaders, former legislator Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen and former PDP legislator Mohammad Ashraf Mir, who were released from Sub-Jail Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) hostel last month, will be released on January 3 (today) while Iltija Mufti, daughter of former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, was detained at her residence on January 2.Mir and Paddar were put under house arrest in August last year (2019) ahead of abrogation of special status to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).Government released five politicians – Zahoor Mir, former PDP, MLA, from Pampore, Ghulam Nabi, National Conference (NC) leader from Tral, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, former NC, MLA, from Ganderbal, Yasir Reshi, former Member of Legislative Council (MLC) and Bashir Mir, PDP leader from Kangan- from MLA hostel sub-jail last week. However, they were kept under house arrest.
