Two terrorists were killed while two others were arrested during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) by Security Forces (SFs) in Miranshah of North Waziristan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 14, reports Dawn. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), SF conducted the IBO on the reported presence of terrorists. "Weapons and ammunition [were] also recovered from [the] terrorists. Area clearance operation in progress to hunt down any other terrorist in the area," the ISPR said.
Separately, an Army soldier was killed after terrorists attacked a military post in Janikhel area of Bannu District in the night of January 13, reports Dawn. In a statement, the ISPR said that terrorists fired on a military post. Army troops initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged the terrorists. During the exchange of fire, 26-year-old Sepoy Sarfaraz Ali was killed.
Meanwhile, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on January 13 arrested two Islamic State (IS) terrorists during a raid at Dargai road in Charsadda District, reports ARY News. A spokesperson for the CTD said the arrested terrorists were identified as Arif and Fazal. Explosives, a detonator, safety fuse, and prima card were recovered from their possession. The arrested terrorists were planning to target Police and other SFs with a homemade bomb, CTD spokesperson added.
