Two United People's Revolutionary Front (UPRF) militants on June 20, were killed during an encounter at a deep forest near Jolian village at Singhasan Hills of Karbi Anglong District in Assam, reports Northeast Now. Two AK-47 rifles, ammunition and incriminating documents were recovered from the possession of the slain militants, reports Nagaland Post. In a Tweet, Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said “intermittent firing is still going on at the encounter site”. He further stated that the UPRF militants are actively working under the protection of poaching and drug cartels of Churachandpur District in Manipur. Earlier on October 6, 2020, the 'chairman' of UPRF, Martin Guite, was killed in an encounter in the forests of Singhasan Hill of Karbi Anglong District in Assam.
