An unidentified group has set ablaze the office of Shikar Municipality-7 in Doti District of Province No. 7 on July 27, reports The Himalayan Times. Police after the preliminary investigation suspects the arsonists might have been the cadres of Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-Maoist-Chand).
Meanwhile, the cadres of the CPN-Maoist-Chand on July 27 took under control the land and house belonging to one person located in Tikapur Municipality of Kailali District in Province No. 7, reports Republica. They have seized control of the land and house of Rekha Kadayat accusing her of evading tax and running away after collecting money from different lenders by promising them to give it back to them with accrued high interest. Kadayat had been running a beauty parlour before she ran way. It has been about one year since she fled Tikapur, locals say.
Separately, Police arrested Kaski District Secretary of CPN-Maoist-Chand from Pokhara city of Kaski District in Province No. 4 on July 27, reports The Himalayan Times. Police arrested Sujan BK while he was visiting a local market. Police arrested BK on a special tip-off regarding BK threatening locals while claiming to be a CPN-Maoist-Chand leader.
