A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as ‘area commander’ Lajim Ansari, who was wanted in more than 25 cases and carrying a bounty of INR 500,000 on his head, was killed in an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) in Semla Bartoli Bhagat Kona Forest area under Chainpur Police Station limits in Gumla District of Jharkhand on June 2, reports The Print. “The encounter took place in a forest in Chainpur police station area around 8 pm on Friday when security forces were carrying out a search operation,” Gumla, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ehtesham Waquarib said. A rifle and two country-made pistols were also recovered from the spot. Police said Ansari was a resident of Kotam village under the Sadar Police Station limits in Gumla District.
