A Woman cadre of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) was killed in an exchange of fire with Security Forces (SFs) in the forest of Chandameta-Pyarbhat villages in Bastar District of Chhattisgarh during an anti-Naxal[Left Wing Extremism (LWE)] on June 18, reports The New Indian Express. SFs comprising of District Reserve Guard (DRG) units from Bastar, Dantewada and Sukma districts of Chhattisgarh and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) 80th Battalion were involved in the operation. SFs recovered one AK-47 rifle; two pistols and a huge amount of camping materials were recovered from the spot. The identity of the killed CPI-Maoistcadre is yet to be ascertained, said Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P.
Four CPI-Maoist cadres were arrested in two separate incidents in Dantewada and Narayanpur Districts of Chhattisgarh on June 18, reports The New Indian Express. In the first incident, two CPI-Maoist cadres identified as Muchaki Motu alias Hurra, ‘janmilitia commander’ carrying a reward of INR 1, 00,000 on his head and Muchaki Pandu, a Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangthan (DAKMS) member were arrested by Police at Benapalli village under Aranpur Police Station limits in Dantewada District of Chhattisgarh. Police also recovered a muzzle-loading gun and two detonators from them. The arrested CPI-Maoist cadres were tasked with ensuring security to senior cadres, arranging food, gathering villagers for meetings and passing information about Police movement. In the second incident, two CPI-Maoist cadres identified as Maso alias Ranjeet Poyam (25), Bhattbeda ‘deputy janmilitia commander’ and Mangtu Ram Kumeti (35), a ‘janmilitia’ member were arrested by SF’s comprising of Police and DRG personnel at Bhattbeda and Chote Tondebeda villages under Orcha Police Station in Narayanpur District of Chhattisgarh. The arrested CPI-Maoist duo had targeted the Police in a forest close to Dongalputti village under Orcha Police Station on June 1, said Police Official.
