In a press conference on June 17, the chief of staff, 15 Corps, Maj. Gen. John Ranjan Mukherjee revealed that an estimated 1500 terrorists, mostly foreigners, are operating in Kashmir Valley, while some more are being trained in 123 training camps set up in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). He added that 2500 terrorists are awaiting infiltration across the LoC opposite the Kashmir region. Similarly additional build up in large number is being reported opposite the Line of Control in the Jammu and Ladakh regions. Pakistan is reported to be providing the terrorists with sophisticated weapons and equipment including missiles, rockets, and state of the art communication systems.

The Nagaland Chief Minister, SC Jamir said that the cease-fire agreement reached between the Central government and the outlawed NSCN-IM was proving to be "counter productive" and had led to an escalation in fratricidal clashes in the State.
