Subsequently, the police personnel recovered an explosive device tied to a nearby electric post. Separately, an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion occurred at Sisiboragaon in the Dhemaji district on April 2 damaging the local self-government office building. Sentinel reports that an unidentified United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) militant was killed by the Guwahati City Police in an encounter at Panjabari-Bagharbori Napara area under Dispur police station on April 2. Police sources said that a group of about four ULFA militants had opened fire on a patrolling police team compelling the police to retaliate.
