Swami Aseemanand, the hardline Hindutva leader, confessed of his involvement in the terror attack on Hyderabad's Mecca Masjid, Times of India reported on January 8. He also confirmed that the bomb attacks on the mosques in Malegaon in Maharashtra (September 8, 2006) Muslim dominated areas of Modasa town in Gujrat (September 29, 2008) as well as the Samjhauta Express Blast (February 18, 2007) were handiworks of Hindu radicals of whom he had full knowledge. Aseemanand aka Jatin Chatterjee aka Naba Kumar Sarkar named Indresh Kumar, Sunil Joshi (who was allegedly killed by his co-conspirators), Sandeep Dange and Ramchandra Kalsangra, aka Ramji (both of whom are absconding) as fellow architects in these terror plots. He said that the Hindu radicals allegedly attacked mosques and the train carrying Pakistani citizens as part of the 'bomb-for-bomb' plan to retaliate against jihadi terror. According to Aseemanand, the Islamist attack on Varanasi's Sankatmochan temple (March 7, 2006) proved to be the last straw for him and his affiliates. What reportedly led to the confession was the fact that the Swami was cared for in jail by a Muslim, who was wrongly arrested in the Mecca Masjid blast, leading to the act of atonement.

Every seafarer must carry this document while on board, which is also an official and legal record of his sea experience. According to sources, the alert stated that fake CDCs are being made in Thailand in the name of Republic of Liberia. As per the terror alert, these CDCs are being issued by the Bureau of Marine Officials, Liberia.

West Bengal Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh says there are no armed camps in the State. India on January 27 accused Pakistan of not doing enough to check the terrorism, according to Times of India. Foreign secretary Nirupama Rao said there were elements in Pakistan who believed in violence and were allowing terror to grow further. "I am sure people of Pakistan want peace. But there are some groups and people who think violence is the way. There are elements in the state of Pakistan who have not done anything (to tackle terror). In fact they have allowed it to grow," she told a group of visiting Afghan journalists. "Pakistan has created the Frankenstein. They will have to deal with it. The sickness is there. They have to cure it. They have to root out this evil," she added. She said India was not blaming Pakistan without any reason. "People shouldn't think that we are attacking Pakistan. The Mumbai attack is an evidence. The terrorists who attacked Mumbai in 2008 were from Pakistan. Kasab, the lone surviving gunman in the attack, is a Pakistani," she said.
