Eight Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, five of them carrying reward on their heads, were arrested by the Police from separate places in the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on July 1, reports The Times of India. Six Maoist cadres, including a woman, were arrested from the forests of Bangoli village under Bangapal Police Station limits in Bijapur District, during a search operation, Bijapur Superintendent of Police (SP) KL Dhruv said. Those arrested were identified as Shankar Warsa (50), Somaru Warsa (35), Gopi (32), Budhram Tamo (36), Kadiyam Nehru (38) and a woman called Sundari Warsa, all of them active in the South Bastar region, and were wanted in several incidents of crimes, including murder, loot, arson, kidnapping and attacks on Police patrols since 2003, the SP said. Shankar, Somaru, Gopi and Sundari carried a reward of INR 5,000 each on their heads, he added.

A female cadre of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) was arrested during a search operation in a forested patch under Madded Police Station limits of Bijapur District on July 2, reports The Pioneer. She was identified as Radha Paret alias Angampalli alias Sharda wife of Angampalli Ganpat (26) resident of Minkapalli. According to the Police, a joint team of District Police and Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) had started on a combing operation from Madded Police Station on July 1. While conducting search operation in Minkapalli area, they arrested a woman under suspicious circumstances. Police claimed that two warrants were issued for her arrest and she was involved in serious crimes such as murder, attempt to murder. Police was searching her since 2002.

Police arrested a hardcore Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Santu alias Durga Korram, from a forested area of Maraskola forests under Dhaudai Police Station limits in Narayanpur District on July 5, reports The Pioneer. Santu was an expert in making and detonating bombs, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Narayanpur, OP Sharma said. Steel containers, multi-meters, cordex wire, electricity switches, electricity testers, live bullets of 12 bore gun, wire cutters, an instruction manual about making bobby traps, batteries and other items of daily used, were found from his possession.

A senior Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Santlal Mandavi (35) alias Shantilal, was arrested during a joint search operation from Keshokodi village forests under Koyalibeda Police Station limits of Kanker District on July 6, reports Zee News. A joint squad of Border Security Force (BSF) and District Police were on a combing exercise in Koyalibeda region when they spotted a suspect hiding in the deep forests and intercepted him. The Maoist broke down during interrogation and admitted of being involved in the movement as a head of Keshokodi Janatana Sarkar (people’s government) of CPI-Maoist.
