SFs forcibly detained three persons, identified as Muhammad Akbar, a school teacher, Asadullah, and Faheem Baloch after the arrest from the Korak area. Three of the victims are close relatives who were arrested by the SFs during raids on their houses.

At least two people, including a 12-year-old child, were killed on October 4 when an Afghan Security Forces (SFs) opened firing on pedestrians at Friendship Gate of Chaman Border Crossing along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Chaman District of Balochistan, reports Dawn. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a child was also injured during the firing. “On October 4, at 1600 hours, an Afghan sentry employed at Friendship Gate of Chaman Border Crossing along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Balochistan opened unprovoked and indiscriminate firing at pedestrians moving from Pakistan to Afghanistan,” ISPR said. The ISPR said the incident occurred at the outbound gate located on the zero line. “Own troops exercised extreme restraint and avoided any exchange of fire in the presence of innocent passengers to avoid collateral damage,” it stated.

In a media statement, Major Gwahram Baloch, the ‘spokesperson’ for the BLF, said a remote-controlled bomb was used to target the convoy. Three Baloch persons were reportedly forcibly disappeared allegedly by the SFs from Dazan area of Tump tehsil (revenue unit) in Kech District in Balochistan on October 11, reports The Balochistan Post. The disappeared youth was identified as Abdul Haq, son of Abdul Hafeez. It’s pertinent to mention that the aforementioned youth’s cousin Asad Baloch, who went missing allegedly at the hands of the SF from Quetta on March 18, 2014, remains missing till date. Further, SFs conducted raid on the residence of an individual named Pirbakhsh in the Minaz Mohammad area of Buleda area of Kech District. SF subjected women and children to severe torture and detained two individuals, relocating them to an undisclosed location. The two forcibly disappeared individuals were identified as Nasram, son of Pirbakhsh, and Pazeer, son of Ghani.

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) on October 13 claimed responsibility for the detention of two Army soldiers, including a senior non-commissioned officer, identified as Subedar Mohammad Khan, and a Sepoy, named Abdul Rasheed, reports The Balochistan Post. According to the BLA’s press release, the soldiers were intercepted and detained by the BLA’s Special Tactical Operations Squad (STOS) in Margat area of Bolan District on October 12. The group said that the operation was based on “information and intelligence from BLA’s intelligence wing.” The BLA’s statement outlined Subedar Mohammad Khan’s service record, indicating he had joined the Frontier Corps (FC) Sibbi Scouts in 1981 and had been posted across various units. At the time of his detention, he was posted as a Subedar in FC’s Security Services to provide security at the Zarghoon gas field in Balochistan. Sepoy Abdul Rasheed, also of the FC’s Sibbi Scouts, had been assigned to duties at the Zarghoon gas field, with prior deployments at various outposts including Zafar, Haseeb, Double Four and Tauqeer. The BLA indicated that following their investigations, the detained individuals would be presented before what they described as the “Baloch national court” to determine subsequent proceedings.

Saddam Hussain Muslim who also known by his aliases Guru and Jabbar was a ‘commander’ of the Abdul Majeed Brigade of the BLA. His associate was identified as Maqsood. A cache of weapons and explosive material were recovered from the possession of killed terrorists. Saddam is said to have joined the BLA in 2008. He is also alleged to be running many torture cells in Kech District. Since 2016, Saddam was involved in 93 terror incidents in South Balochistan.
