The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials of Hazara Division arrested two Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists, Muhammad Nawaz alias Abrash and Azizullah alias Hazaza, from Batagaram District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 3, reports Dawn. Both the terrorists are said to have received militant training in Kunar area in Afghanistan. Nawaz and Azizullah were involved in a number of terrorism incidents in the past and were also found plotting an attack in the Batagaram region at the time of their arrest. CTD officials said the two men revealed major terrorism plots in Batagaram District during their initial interrogation. Bannu Special Police Unit arrested three suspected Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists from the Chando Khel area of Lakki Marwat District on January 9, reports Daily Times. Police recovered a Kalashnikov rifle, three grenades, an anti-personnel mine, explosives and 30 bore pistols. The terrorists were identified as Waliullah, Amanullah and Ravib. The arrested militants were involved in target killing, extortion and attacking law enforcers. The arrested persons also stole the rifle of police official Ali Badshah after killing him. Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) ameer (head Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) Mushtaq Ahmad on January 11 called for merger of  Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and also stated that the people of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) were deprived of basic and democratic rights for the last seven decades, reports The News. Mushtaq Ahmed also rejected the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR), saying it was a black law. “If no solid steps were taken for the merger of the FATA with KP [Khyber Pakhtunkhwa] and uplift of the tribal areas, we will have no other option but to march on Islamabad,” he said.Mushtaq Ahmad asked the Government to announce PKR 1,000 billion uplift package for the tribal areas. Army and Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) carried out joint combing operations in Shaheen town, Warsak Road, Dalazak and Pakka Ghulam areas of Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the evening of January 15, reports The News. According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the combing operation 58 suspects were apprehended including five Afghan nationals. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Engr Iqbal Zafar Jhagra strongly condemned the bomb blast and said "We will continue our struggle till eliminating the last terrorist from FATA", reports Daily Times. The terrorist, he added, could never deter our courage, since we are determined to follow them to the extreme extent. The Police on January 23 recovered two suicide jackets from Abu Bakar mosque under the Paharipura Police Station, on the outskirt of Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports Dawn. However, no arrests were made. An official at the Paharipura Police Station said that acting on a tipoff Police personnel checked Abu Bakar mosque near Benazir Hospital along the motorway. He said the cops recovered two suicide jackets containing about five kilogramme explosives from the room of the prayer leader of the mosque. At least nine people, including three Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, were injured in a blast on Charsadda road of Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on January30, reports Dawn. A contingent of FC personnel was on its way from Mohmand Agency to Peshawar when their vehicle was targeted through a bomb planted on the roadside on Charsadda road, SSP Operations Sajjad Khan said. As a result of the explosion, six civilians and three security men sustained injuries. There has been no claim of responsibility for the blast. Read less...
