The CPI-Maoist activist Tushar
alias Kanti alias Shreekant alias Prakashji Harnath
Bhattacharya (62) was remanded to Police custody for four days
(till August 14) by a court in Kathore of Kamrej taluka
in Surat District. The Surat Rural Police had demanded 140-day
custody of Bhattacharya, who was arrested by Gujarat ATS on August
8 from a train at Durg Railway Station of Chhattisgarh and handed
over to the local Police in Kamrej on August 9. DSP, Surat District,
SK Vala said, "We will be questioning Bhattacharya about the training
classes conducted by him. We will also try to find out what kind
of information he shared with the participants."
