Incidents of CPN-Maoist targeting other parties since the April 2006 cease-fire

2011

May 24: Eight persons were injured when a clash broke out during the management committee meeting of the Khochadas Lower Secondary School in Ranganj Sinuwari in Sunsari District. The clash erupted between supporters of the MJF-L and the UCPN-M after they had disagreement on the appointment of two new teachers under the women and general teacher relief quotas.

May 16: A group of 60 UCPN-M cadres from the Chulachuli-based PLA first division camp of Ilam attacked local people of Kamal Jhoda, injuring at least 12 people, According to the account of the local people, the Maoists had entered the village at around 11pm and launched the attack in seven houses. The Maoists also 'captured' five local youths Chabbi Subba, Gyanu Limbu, Birhang Limbu, Dipendra Tumbahamphe and Bishal Sunuwar and took them to the camp. They were freed 16 hours after they were captured in the afternoon of May 17. Two others, who had gone missing after the incident, came in contact in the morning. The PLA first division owned up the attack but refuted the local people's claim of abducting the five youths. "They were not kidnapped. They were brought to the camp for treatment, as they were injured in the incident," said Sangram Thapa, 'secretary' of the PLA first division camp. Police also said five youths had sustained minor injuries. It is learned that the attack was instigated as an act of revenge, as six PLA combatants were injured in a clash with the local people of Kali Jhoda recently. Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress (NC) claimed that the people attacked and 'captured' by the PLA combatants were the cadres of the party.

April 26: At least 14 RPP activists were injured in a clash with the UCPN-M cadres at Madi in Chitwan District. According to eye witnesses, the clash ensued after the Maoist cadres suddenly attacked the RPP activists while they were attending a party workers' meeting at Madi.

April 25: NC activists attacked and injured six UCPN-M supporters in a dispute over construction work at a school in Dhyangphedi Village Development Committee (VDC)-6 in Nuwakot District. The Maoist District Committee claimed that a group of about 20 NC activists led by Sun Bahadur Tamang had attacked its party men. The NC village committee, however, denied involvement of its activists in the attack.

2010

March 2: Six NC activists have sought Police protection after being displaced from their village in remote Kushapani-4 of Dailekh District due to repeated threats by the cadres of Unified CPN-Maoist. Similarly, in Argakachi District, a Maoist leader has threatened to make three CPN-UML District leaders disappear.

2009

December 29: Cadres of the Unified CPN-Maoist attacked Federalism, Constituent Assembly (CA) Affairs and Culture minister Minendra Rijal with bamboo sticks in Udaypur District. A statement issued by Nepal Congress (NC), Udaypur unit president Narayan Bahadur Karki informed that minister Rijal was attacked on head and shoulders with bamboo sticks as he was coming out of the party's District office in the afternoon.

September 13: The Unified CPN-Maoist cadres assaulted Deep Bahadur K. C., Bakrang village committee chairman of CPN-UML, in Gorkha accusing him of taking Maoist supporters to a regional convention of CPN-UML.

May 17: The Unified CPN-Maoist cadres clashed with Nepali Congress activists at Bariyaarpur-4 of Bara District, leaving more than a dozen from both parties injured. Reports quoted Police as saying that eight among the injured are in a critical condition. They had clashed over a land dispute. Most of the seriously injured are local members of the NC while only two belonged to the Maoists.

Maoists pelted stones at the vehicle of the CPN-UML leaders, including general secretary Ishwar Pokhrel, at Tipling of Ramechhap. Police escorting Pokhrel opened fire in the air to disperse the attackers. Meanwhile, the Government started providing additional security to some UML and Nepali Congress leaders after threats from the Maoists started increasing in various Districts.

April 6: The Unified CPN-Maoist cadres attacked and injured five Nepali Congress (NC) activists at Pukchowk in the Kaski District. According to the NC, the Maoists manhandled its activists who were on their way back after attending a programme at Lekhnath municipality.

2008

October 1: The CPN-Maoist cadres assaulted the Nepali Congress district member, Purna Bahadur Lamtari, in the Baldyanggairi-2 village of Palpa district allegedly for giving an anti-Maoist speech in the village on September 25.

September 4: The Maoists assaulted Lok Prasad Dhakal of Shreenathkoat-3 in the Gorkha district. Dhakal is chairperson of the Shreenathkoat Village Unit Committee of the NC and president of the Nepal Prajatantra Senani Sangh Gorkha, sister organization of the NC. Later, issuing a statement the NC said that the Maoists also threatened Dhakal for donation.

July 16: Members of the All Nepal National Free Students Union and the All Nepal National Independent Students Union Revolutionary, student wings of the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist, at the Institute of Forestry in Pokhara 'seized' five campus officials on July 16 as the talks on compensation for damages incurred in students' clash a couple of months ago, ended inconclusively, according to Kantipuronline.

June 22: Maoist cadres have grabbed more that 20 hectares of land belonging to the Shankaracharya Guthi in the Madhesa Village Development committee of Sunsari district and started farming in it. They also distributed portions of the land to some families for building houses. According to Maoist district leaders, the land was seized to upgrade the living standards of the under-privileged communities.

July 5: At least 14 activists of the CPN-Maoist and NC were injured when a clash ensued between the two parties at Bishampur Village Development Committee-9 in Parsa district. The clash occurred after Maoist cadre Shubha Ram and NC activist Bharat Ram started quarrelling over a political issue.

June 5: At least 20 persons were injured when Maoist cadres clashed with CPN-UML-backed members of Janahit Saving and Credit Cooperatives in the Khimti area of Ramechhap district.

May 12: Around 35 armed Maoists raided the houses of two CPN-UML cadres in Ward No 1 of Jaljala VDC in the Sankhuwasabha district.

May 3: The CPN-Maoist cadres attacked a teacher while a meeting to settle a land dispute was going on in Ward No. 5 of Kawasoti VDC in the Nawalparasi district. The Maoists attacked meeting coordinator and teacher Deepak Subedi when the issue of CPN-Maoist district adviser Dharma KC having grabbed some land belonging to Jankalyan Lower Secondary School was raised. The meeting ended abruptly after the Maoists attacked Subedi. Later, Maoist in-charge of Kawasoti VDC and party representative at the meeting tendered a public apology on behalf of his party's cadres.

April 29: Cadres of the CPN-Maoist assaulted an assistant health worker, Krishna Prasad Silwal, after he refused to abide by a kangaroo court verdict at Bhandara in the Narayangadh area of Chitwan district. Around two dozen Maoist cadres, acting upon a complaint filed at their "people's court" by local health post in-charge Shiva Ghimire, turned up at the health facility to "interrogate" and subsequently assaulted Silwal after he refused to sign a paper detailing the "verdict".

April 27: The NC has accused the CPN-Maoist of giving continuity to "irresponsible and criminal" activities like violent attacks against NC supporters, murders, lootings and severing water supplies. The NC said Maoists have cut the water supply pipeline to 70 households in the Dhikure village of Tehrathum for not voting for the Maoists. "They (Maoists) have even erected their flags in the houses and said they have blacklisted NC activists for action with a view to terrorize them," NC chief Secretary Shovakhar Parajuli said in a statement. The NC also said that Birkha Fago, leader of the party's youth wing -Tarun Dal - in Chulachuli of Ilam, was stabbed to death by an unidentified group.

April 14: A group of 25 Maoists attacked and injured Nepali Congress leader and the Finance Minister, Ram Sharan Mahat, at Dudhdevi VDC of Nuwakot district. Seven other persons, including two Nepali Congress supporters, a police inspector and four children were also injured in the incident.

April 8: 12 Nepali Congress activists were injured in an attack by YCL cadres at Korthar VDC in the Nawalparasi district.

Three CPN-UML activists were injured at Hasaura in the Nawalparasi district when YCL cadres attacked them.

April 5: YCL cadres attacked a Nepali Congress team led by the party’s candidate for Nawalparasi constituency-3 Om Kala Gautam. Two policemen and six Nepali Congress cadres were injured in the attack at Kawasoti along the Mahendra highway.

Five CPN-UML activists, a poll monitor and a Nepali Congress activist were injured in Maoist attacks in Ramechhap district.

April 4: A District Committee member of the CPN-UML, Dutta Bahadur Rokaya, was injured in an attack by a group of 65 Maoists in the Dolpa district.

April 3: Three CPN-UML activists were injured in a clash with cadres of the YCL after the latter attacked their election programme at Bharatpur in the Chitwan district.

Chitwan district joint secretary of the RPP, Dinesh Adhikari, and other local leaders Dillip Thapa and Upendra Shrestha sustained injuries when about 90 YCL cadres attacked them with batons. The YCL cadres also set ablaze all the election material kept at the RPP office in Madi.

April 1: The Maoists attacked a meeting on energy at Harkapur VDC of Okhaldhunga. Seven persons, including NC cadre Prem Bahadur Khatiwada, were injured in the attack.

In Khotang, the Maoists pelted stones on NC cadres at an election meeting at Faktang VDC under constituency no 2. The Maoists also cut water supply in the area. NC district secretary Mahendra Katuwal said the Maoists chased away NC cadres when they were heading to the venue.

The Maoists abducted six NC cadres from Dadeldhura and took them to an undisclosed location, police said.

The Maoists obstructed the publicity campaign of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party candidate of Surkhet constituency-2, Bal Bahadur Bhandari, and destroyed his publicity material.

March 31: The CPN-UML said the Maoists have abducted 10 UML cadres, who were on an election campaign at Bhagwati VDC in the Jajarkot district. The UML men were abducted from Thulabagar where they had gone for a publicity campaign three days earlier. Those abducted are area committee secretary Purna Prasad Basnet, members Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Kali Bahadur Basnet, Dip Bahadur Basnet, Nara bahadur Khatri, Kag Bahadur Basnet, Bishnu Bahadur Khatri, Krishna Prasad Jaisi, Krishna Bahadur Khatri and Khadga Bahadur Oli. Of those abducted, the whereabouts of Krishna Bahadur Jaisi, Krishna Bahadur Khatri and Khadga Bahadur Khatri remain unknown while others are said to be under the control of the Maoists in the area. The UML local leaders said they were abducted by a group of Maoists led by district committee member of CPN-Maoist Buddhi Gurung.

March 30: Three CPN-UML cadres were injured during a clash with the Maoists in the Beluwa Chowk area of Bardiya district. The incident occurred immediately after a cycle rally of the CPN-UML.

March 26: A CPN-Maoist cadre was killed when police opened fire during a scuffle between the members of NC-affiliated Tarun Dal and the Maoists in the Solukhumbu district. A statement issued by the Information Bureau of the Maoists said that Ganga Bahadur Bhujel 'Gajendra', a member of the district secretariat, died on the spot in the police firing.

March 24: CPN-Maoist cadres attacked a group of CPN-UML activists, including the party candidate for the CA elections at Kotre VDC in Bajura district, while they were campaigning. CPN-UML candidate for the CA polls under the proportional representation system, Basundhara Rokaya, and another person were injured in the attack.

March 23: CPN-Maoist cadres obstructed a NC candidate, Madhav Acharya, and other activists while campaigning for the elections in Constituency-1 in the Rolpa district. Hundreds of Maoists brandishing knives chased the NC activists threatening to kill them at Phagam VDC-8 in the Rolpa district.

Maoists abducted and assaulted Basu Neupane, principal of the Janajagriti Secondary School at Dharamapani VDC in the Pyuthan district in Dharmapani VDC. They later released him, after warning him not to participate in the election meeting of the NC candidate Gobindaraj Joshi at the constituency. Neupane is an active member of the NC-affiliated Teachers’ Union and a former correspondent of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti.

March 21: Two CPN-UML activists were injured in a clash with the Maoists at Piple village in the Chitwan district.

March 20: In the Gorkha district, CPN-Maoist cadres barred NC activists from entering the Simjung VDC for poll campaigning.

March 19: In the Makwanpur district, Maoists attacked and injured six NC activists at Chhatbin VDC in the Hetauda district.

March 18: Around 100 Maoists attacked a police post at Dandagaun in the Rasuwa district where CPN-UML activists had taken refuge following a clash between the two sides in the village. The Maoists attacked the police post for giving protection to the CPN-UML supporters.

March 17: Maoists attacked a group of CPN-UML supporters when they were returning from an election rally at Khurkhure of Birendranagar VDC in the Chitwan district. According to reports, Maoists severely assaulted three CPN-UML supporters while five Maoist cadres also received minor injuries in the scuffle.

Maoists tried to obstruct an election meeting of the Nepali Congress in Rukum district. A group of Maoist cadres tried to obstruct the Nepali Congress’ programme held at Sankh VDC of Rukum district on the charge of bringing civil police in the election programme.

March 16: In the Bardiya district, Maoist cadres led by Hem Narayan Kafle assaulted a CPN-UML activist, Jhapulal Jaisi, in his house after accusing him of doing poll publicity work.

Maoists laid an ambush, hurled stones and fired shots at a Nepali Congress election procession led by party candidate Bal Krishna Dahal for the Constituent Assembly polls from Constituency Number 1 in the Okhaldhunga district. A NC cadre, Lila Dahal, was injured in the attack.

March 15: Maoists assaulted two Nepali Congress activists in the Gorkha district. Maoists picketed the home of Chandra Prasad Neupane, the NC candidate from Constituency Number 2 in the district, at midnight and assaulted his son Achyut and another NC activist Amar Bhitav.

March 13: Maoists stormed the RPP office in Chitwan and ransacked all the furniture and documents before setting ablaze the building.

Maoists assaulted two cadres of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party (NWPP) - Raj Bahadur Budha and Dan Bahadur Budha - in Jumla and filed fake cases against them.

March 12: Maoists attacked an election campaign meeting of the CPN-UML in Preeti VDC area in the Ramechhap district and injured 12 persons, including the CPN-UML candidate for Ramechhap district’s constituency no 1, Dev Shankar Poudel.

Maoist cadres severely assaulted a Nepali Congress activist, Ganeshman Shrestha, of Ghyalchowk VDC area in the Gorkha district.

February 22: Four Maoists were injured in a clash that broke out between workers of the CPN-UML and the Maoists in the Arghakhanchi district. The clash ensued after the Maoist cadres tried to obstruct the election rally of the CPN-UML in Hatiya of Nuwakot VDC in the district.

February 5: Activists of Nepali Congress and Maoists clashed in Latinath VDC of Darchula district after the Maoists tried to disrupt the election campaign of the Nepali Congress. Two Maoist cadres were injured in the incident after police used force to foil any untoward incidents. According to the reports, Maoists began pelting stones at Nepali Congress activists and police had to open fire to control the unruly crowd.

January 6: Cadres of the YCL assaulted and injured a former chairman of the Lamachaur VDC, Durga Bahadur, and a CPN-UML activist, Om Bahadur Kunwar, in the Kaski district.

2007

December 31: Seven cadres of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) affiliated to the CPN-UML and a former VDC secretary were injured when YCL cadres attacked them during a programme organised by the ANNFSU primary committee of the Janvikas Higher Secondary School at Salmechakal in the Kavre district. The ANNFSU central member Dipak Gautam, campus district committee president Bipin Lama and student leaders Durga Timilsina, Govind Thakuri, Bhojkumari Lama, Suman Poudel, Suresh Timilsina and former VDC secretary of Saldhara Shekhar Lama were injured in the attack by the YCL cadres.

December 10: Maoists threatened to kill a CPN-UML activist, Agni Prasad Budhathoki, a resident of the Syabrumba VDC area of Panchthar district, if he did not pay them NR 150,000 donation.

November 12: A Nepali Congress cadre, who was abducted from the Kapilvastu district by the Maoists on November 2, was found dead on November 12. The dead body of Wakil Musalman, who was abducted from Sohrasa Bazaar in the Patariya VDC area, was recovered from Ward No. 6 of Lumbini Adarsha VDC.

November 6: Cadres of the YCL assaulted leaders of Nepali Congress in Lamjung district on. Around 15 YCL cadres attacked four Nepali Congress leaders, identified as, Hari Bhakta Adhikary, Ram Chandra Adhikary, Gam Prasad Gurung and Ganesh Prasad Neupane. The NC leaders were attacked when they had gone to attend the annual function of Sarbodaya higher secondary school in Chandreshwore.

October 29: A group of YCL cadres led by Maoists' Gulmi district committee member Devi Ram Aryal severely assaulted a Nepali Congress cadre, identified as Amit K.C. of Chhaphile VDC-8 in the Gulmi district.

October 15: Cadres of the YCL captured a house and property belonging to the chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Rastrabadi, Rajeshwar Devkota, in Gorkha district accusing him of supporting the King to suppress the Maoists’ peoples’ war and misusing the state funds.

October 5: According to Himalayan Times, YCL threatened to take action against four Ramechhap-based leaders of different political parties, accusing them of indulging in anti-people activities. The group’s Ramechhap district president, Prem Bahadur Karki, said stern action would be taken against former minister Kamal Chaulagain, former district development committee chairman Dhruv Raj Lama, former district development vice-chairman Kedar Karki and Nepali Congress district working committee member Dik Bahadur Tamang.

September 30: Maoists vandalised the house of Durga Shrestha, a minister during the royal regime.

September 26: Maoists severely assaulted and injured 30 cadres of the CPN-UML's Dhading district unit who were campaigning for the Constituent Assembly elections. In another incident, the Maoists assaulted former chairman of Dhading's Kiranchowk VDC.

Seven CPN-UML cadres were injured in the Pida village of Dhading district after the Maoists indiscriminately assaulted them with iron rods, sticks and other sharp weapons

September 24: Cadres of the YCL assaulted a student leader of the All Nepal National Free Student Union identified as Dudh Prasad Ghale at Pokhara in the Kaski district and left him on the banks of the Seti River.

September 1: Maoists in the Ramechhap district assaulted a CPN-UML leader Dev Shankar Poudel in the Sanghutar bazaar.

August 31: Maoists assaulted a CPN-UML leader Chitra Bahadur Karki when he was en route to Manthali, headquarters of Ramechhap district.

August 7: Cadres of the CPN-Maoist and the YCL assaulted and injured a leader of the Nepali Congress – Democratic, identified as Raghunath Gautam, at Kavre.

July 29: Maoists vandalised the office of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party in Charikot bazaar.

July 17: YCL cadres vandalised the office of Rastriya Prajatantra Party in Baitadi district.

June 23: In Dang district, Maoist insurgents assaulted Govinda Pun, a regional member of the Democratic National Youth Association, youth wing of the CPN-UML, and his family.

June 2: YCL Salyan coordinator, Keyarsi Kunwar alias Kanchan, allegedly stabbed the CPN-UML Baglung district coordinator, Yam Bahadur Khatri of Salyan VDC -6.

June 2: Cadres of the Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) attacked a vehicle that was carrying leaders of the Nepali Congress at Ganeshsthan in the Nuwakot district. The YCL reportedly members pelted stones at the vehicle and damaged the windscreen of the vehicle.

May 28: At least 20 people were injured in a clash between YCL cadres and students belonging to the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), which is affiliated to the Rashtriya Jana Morcha, at Barmeli Tole in the Bhairahawa district.

May 17: Maoists, including some YCL cadres, attacked a district level workers' training programme of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) at Kusmabazaar in the Parbat district. Over one dozen RPP workers, including its district president Rana Bahadur Chhetri and central trainer Madhu Prasad Risal, were injured in the attack.

May 4: In the Phidim district, a group of around 15 YCL cadres assaulted two activists of the Communist Party of Nepal – Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML), Hemraj Yonghang and Bipal Yonghang of Nagi Village Development Committee (VDC) area, and also robbed them of NR 70,000 cash and two tolas of gold.

April 4: Two people were injured in a clash between the Maoists and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) activists in the Ramgunj Belgachhiya area of Sunsari district.

March 31: Maoists assaulted 12 cadres of the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and other political parties at Kotbada village and Gela VDC area in the Kalikot district.

March 28: Three persons were injured in a clash between Maoists and the activists of MJF in Barewa of the Rupandehi district.

March 21: Maoists prevented Pashupati Shumsher Rana, Chairperson of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, from attending a mass meeting that was to be held at Lagarche in the Sindhupalchowk district.

March 18: Maoists assaulted Pyarilal Shahi and Kalpana Singh of the Nepali Congress and Tika Shahi of the CPN-UML, for supporting the reinstatement of a police post in the Darma VDC area of Humla district.

Maoists foiled a press meet scheduled to be organised by the MJF in Bhairahawa. They chased away MJF central Vice-chairman Kishor Biswas and activists of the Rupandehi unit of the MJF to the Gautam Buddha Airport.

February 28: Two MJF activists were injured in a scuffle between Maoists and the MJF cadres at Gulariya in the Bardiya district.

February 27: Approximately 10 MJF activists and 17 Maoists were injured in a clash between the two groups at Puraini VDC area in the Banke district.

February 26: An activist of the MJF, identified as Jille Ram Yadav, who was wounded during a clash with Maoists near Khairapur in the Bardiya district on February 25, succumbed to his injuries.

February 24: Maoists and MJF activists clashed with each other in the Rupandehi district.

In Nepalgunj, Maoists vandalised the venue where a programme was being organised by the MJF and in the ensuing clashes, an unspecified number of people were wounded.

Maoists clashed with activists of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities in Chitwan district.

February 23: At least 15 persons were injured in a clash between the Maoists and MJF activists at Bhairahawa in the Rupandehi district.

Maoists and activists of the Jay Krishna Goit-led Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) clashed when the Maoists tried to open shops at Sarmujawa bazaar in the Rautahat district. Six persons, including two local shopkeepers, were injured in the clash.

Maoists intervened in a mass meeting organised by the CPN-UML in the Rolpa district. A dozen Maoists led by the district committee member Lok Bahadur Budha intervened in the meeting and took into control some UML leaders, including UML District Secretary Shant Kumar Oli.

February 10: CPN-Maoist cadres attacked leaders of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and foiled their programme being held at Besisahar in the Lamjung district. Following the attack, 20 RPP workers were injured, including Hemjung Gurung, the president of Lamjung unit.

January 31: Four persons were injured in a clash between activists of the Nepal Sadbhavana Party (NSP) and those of the Maoist-affiliated Madhesi Mukti Morcha at Lawani in the Kapilvastu district. The clash occurred during a district level general strike called by the NSP.

January 19: An activist of the MJF, Ramesh Mahato of Siraha district, was shot dead by the Maoists.

2006

December 15: Over a dozen Rashtriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal activists were injured in a clash with a group of students dominated by Maoists at Baluwatar, who tried to thwart their pro-King rally in Kathmandu.

November 26: Maoists assaulted Jana Morcha cadre Satya Narayan Gurung of Ramgunj Belgachhiya VDC-3 in the Sunsari district.

October 30: Maoists abducted Nepali Congress workers Naresh Raut Kurmi, Jawahir Raut Kurmi and Krishna Nandan Yadav from the Rautahat district.

October 29: Maoists abducted Prabin Khadka, a worker of the Nepali Congress (Democratic), at Budhanilkantha in Kathmandu.

October 28: Maoists disrupted a public programme held by the Nepali Congress in the Kalikot district. They also assaulted dozens of district leaders and workers of the party and abducted some leaders.

October 19: Seven activists of the Nepali Congress (Democratic) were abducted by the Maoists from Budanilakantha in Kathmandu.

August 25: In the Dailekh district, Tilak Pariyar, ‘chief of the Maoist village government’, assaulted Bhupendra Jung Shahi, a CPN-UML cadre and chairman of the management committee of a secondary school, in Dandaparajul VDC.

August 24: Over a dozen people were injured when Maoists attacked a protest rally organised against them by their former cadres and displaced people in Kalaiya, the district headquarters of Bara. A group of Maoists who were carrying canes indiscriminately beat up the protesters, injuring some of them.

August 20: Maoists killed a Nepali Congress activist, Dip Narayan Yadav, in the Dhanusha district. They had abducted Yadav from his house at Barmajhiya on August 5 after accusing him of being involved in the killing of one of their leaders Ram Brikshya Yadav.

At Bhairahawa in the Rupandehi district, Maoists disrupted a religious function, organised by Shiva Sena Nepal, a pro-Hindu organisation, terming it a ploy to re-establish monarchy.

August 16: Maoists captured a JTMM cadre, Ram Bilash Yadav, after a gun battle occurred between the two in the Itatar VDC area of Siraha district.

July 30: Maoists abducted a CPN-UML cadre, Jageshwor Mandal, at Aamgachhi-9 in the Morang district.

July 4: Maoists abducted the Nepali Congress’ Rupandehi district committee member Astabhuja Pathak.

July 1: A group of Maoists abducted Biltu Mahato, a cadre of the People's Front Nepal, from his home at Lalpur-5 in the Siraha district.

June 20: Maoists captured a house belonging to Hemjung Gurung, central member of the Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, at Beshisahar in the Lamjung district and set up an office of the All Nepal National Independent Students’ Union - Revolutionary there.
