|
A suspected militant ‘commander’,
identified as Irfan, blew himself up during a Police raid in
the Adezai village in Matni on the outskirts of Peshawar, the
capital of NWFP. Six Policemen were injured in the incident.
Four suspected militants were also arrested in the raid.

Seven Policemen were injured
when an alleged suicide bomber blew himself up in a house in
Adezai village in Mattani area of Peshawar in NWFP. The Security
Forces raided a house during a search operation to arrest two
Taliban militants Saifullah and Bilal – who were wanted by Police
in various cases of terrorism. During the raid, Taliban ‘commander’,
Irfan, who was the only one present in the house, blew himself
up.

|
An ANP lawmaker, Alamgir Khalil,
in the NWFP Assembly survived a bomb attack in Pavaka area under
Pishtakhara Police Station area in Peshawar. A Police Official
said that the bomb targeting the vehicle of Alamgir Khalil went
off at around 4 pm (PST). No casualties were reported. The official
said the blast occurred just moments after Khalil’s vehicle
passed the area.

Five persons, including an
Awami National Party (ANP) member of the provincial assembly,
Aurangzeb Khan, were injured in a remote-controlled bomb explosion
in Peshawar in North West Frontier Province (NWFP).

militants blew up a tanker carrying oil supply to NATO forces
in Afghanistan on the ring road in the Chamkani Police Station
area of Peshawar in NWFP.

A prominent member
of the Shia community was shot dead while his friend sustained
injuries when unidentified attackers opened fire on them in
Yakatoot area of Peshawar in NWFP. An alleged attacker was overpowered
while trying to escape from the spot. Saqlain, a prominent figure
of the Shia community and brother of Major (Retd.) Hasnain,
a leader of Tehrik Nifaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jaferia (TNFJ), was killed
and his friend Abbas was wounded when unidentified attackers
opened fire on them near their Imambargah in Yakatoot.

The Taliban militants
attacked a vehicle owned by a local lashkar (army) chief
in Adezai village on the outskirts of the provincial capital
of NWFP, Peshawar. A Mattani Police official said that while
a blast had been reported in Adezai village, police had no further
information. However, Adezai lashkar chief Dilawar Khan said
that he was the target of the attack, as the vehicle targeted
was in his use. He said his nephew was using the vehicle at
the time of the attack, as "I had sent him to attend a jirga
(council) in my place at Mattani Police Station".

blew up a tanker carrying fuel for NATO forces in Afghanistan
in Bhanamari Police Station area of Peshawar. A police official
said that the blast occurred at around 8:00 am (PST) on the
Ring Road.

SFs killed 25 militants
in frontier region of Peshawar in NWFP in the first four days
of Operation Spring Cleaning, according to officials. The officials
said that operation was jointly launched on February 24, 2010
and would continue until the elimination of militants form the
area. They said one Frontier Crop trooper had been killed in
fighting and five others were injured.

Suspected Taliban
militants blew up a tanker carrying fuel for NATO troops based
in Afghanistan near Jamil Chowk on Ring Road of Peshawar, the
capital of NWFP. A Police official of the Chamkani Police Station
said the driver sustained injuries in the attack and the tanker
caught fire.

The SFs killed
a supplier of suicide jackets and explosives, Mohammad Iqbal,
who operated a key inter-city network during an encounter in
the north-western part of Peshawar. The Army sources said Iqbal
belonged to TTP faction of Khyber Agency. "He was a key supplier
of suicide bomb jackets and explosives to Islamabad and other
cities of Pakistan," the Army said. He was accused of supplying
explosives for "21 suicide vehicles" to Swat District, where
Pakistan launched a military operation in 2009.
