Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leader identified as Ghulam Rasool Dar, who is a Sarpanch and his wife Jawahira, a Panch of Redwani village in Kulgam District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), were killed by two bike born militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) with indiscriminate firing at Lal Chowk in Anantnag town of Anantnag District of J&K on August 9, reports Daily Excelsior. Dar was also provided with one Personal Security Officer (PSO) who, however, was found absent from duty at the time of incident. The PSO has been placed under suspension, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar.
Security Forces (SFs) arrested two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM) militants identified as Yasir Hussain and Usman Qadir of Dachhan, during a search operation from Kalaingassu area of Tander in Kishtwar District of J&K on August 9, reports Daily Excelsior. Both of them were missing from their houses on August 5 and two days later it was learnt that they had joined HM. SFs recovered a pistol, two grenades, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) and a wireless set from their possession.
The Border Security Force (BSF) with Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Operations Group of J&K Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, a Chinese pistol, four grenades, two mobile phones, four AK-47 magazines with 257 rounds, a pistol magazine with 68 rounds, a radio set, 13 detonators, 15 fuse detonators of Chinese grenades with levers, 12 battery mobile chargers and two nine-volt batteries during a joint search operation in the forest area at Sangad in Mankote Tehsil (revenue unit) of Mendhar sector of Poonch District of J&K on August 9, reports Daily Excelsior.
SFs carried out search operations in Akhnoor border belt in the outskirts of Jammu in Jammu District of J&K after receiving information about movement of two suspected persons at Kapakala and Chowki Choura, reports Daily Excelsior on August 9.
Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) trooper was injured and received a minor bullet injury during a militant attack in Zainapora area of Shopian District of J&K on August 10 (today), reports Greater Kashmir. The whole area has been cordoned off to nab the militants and the condition of injured CRPF trooper is stable.
An Indian Army soldier was injured in a land mine blast at Keran in Kupwara District of J&K on August 9, reports Greater Kashmir. The injured was airlifted to Badmibagh Srinagar for specialized treatment.
